HOTEL ROOM DESIGN BEFORE AND AFTER

One of my favourite room designs for a Scottish boutique hotel is not the largest one but full of charm, room #7 at No 11 Brunswick Hotel and Brasserie.  This gorgeous hotel located in the centre of the city and is very popular with the tourists as well as the locals.  The owners approached me to refresh one of their large luxury rooms at first. They were very pleased with the results so I was asked to design two more of their hotel rooms and help with the restaurant design.

The brief for room #7 was to turn a single bedroom into a small double, making sure it’s individual and quirky but still in keeping with the general look of the hotel. The size of the room is 12 sqm and there is a lack of natural light. The original furniture was dark and chunky, making the room feel small and crowded. The budget was modest and the timescale was short but we are pleased that we delivered on both accounts.

We’ve created a calm scheme using grey, white and touches of yellow. The wonderful Facade wallpaper from Zoffany is a gentle nod to the Georgian period of the Hotel.  With the use of modern furniture, light reflecting accessories and clever use of colour we’ve transformed this room into a comfortable double room what is always booked. In fact, we had to wait for weeks to do the photoshoot!
