We were looking to ‘revitalise’ our independent opticians practice to attract new patients but were scared of alienating our existing patients and so we asked Aleksandra to come up with a design that had had in mind. Following a comprehensive pre-visit questionnaire and a visit to our business Aleksandra presented her design to us and not only was I blown away by the design, but the amount of effort and detail that was put into the design was also way more than I was expecting. The detail and explanation provided in the design has also had the added benefit of energising the whole staff team who are 100% on board with the plans.

The founder Aleksandra J. Hannah is an Interior Designer based in Scotland. With her background in Retail styling and Visual merchandising, she excelled in designing beautiful and eye-catching displays. While working for large retailers she noticed there was a gap in the market for specialist interior design focusing on independent retailers. She retrained as an interior designer and set up Skela Studio to work with businesses that want to make the best commercial use of their interiors. Now her designs include different types of spaces: apartments, shops, boutique hotels, cafes, offices etc.
In addition to her design work, she regularly holds interior design workshops and talks for The City of Edinburgh Council, Heriot-Watt University and internationally for companies like Google & Accenture.
The most important thing for her when designing a room is to give the place a soul, style and a good atmosphere. Aleksandra likes to stay informed but is not driven by trends. Her eye for colours, textures and lighting is what sets her apart from other designers. She endeavours to create true living places: fluent, comfortable and timeless, places where people feel good. Inspiration comes from everywhere: nature, music, travel, art, colours and shapes she sees every day.
