For many people this is the longest they have spent in the house since they moved in. Our home should be our safe place, where we can take comfort and feel secure. But being forced to spend a lot of time in it can also leave us frustrated, bored and irritated with the four walls we live in. Time is something many of us now have a lot of so here are some great and simple ideas to help you fall in love with your house all over again and give it a quick facelift.
Rearrange Your Room
Pick a room, any room. This is the perfect time to shuffle your furniture and create a different look and feel. Some rooms have a perfect winter configuration and an even better one for summer. You should make the most of the light at the moment, and really create a space that you feel happy in. You don’t have to move all the big heavy furniture, but you can use accessories, shelving rugs and curtains to change the look and feel of the room.
Remove the clutter
While you are rearranging and sorting a room it is also the perfect time to declutter and take stock of what you have. We tend to amass lots of possessions as we travel through life, and not all of them actually hold any value. This is a good time to go through what you have and only keep things that you actually want in your home. The same applies to wardrobes and this is the perfect time to go through your clothes and get rid of all the things you’ve been keeping just in case. Charity shops are probably not open at the moment but there is some distance selling available online.
Do Some DIY
if you’ve been putting off painting some walls or changing the colour scheme, now is a great time to take action. Online shopping is giving you the ability to carry on regardless providing you observe the rules of social distancing so you can order the paint, paper, and anything else you want on the Internet and have it delivered to your door. If you can’t decide where to start writing a list of all the things you want to achieve in your home and see which one is most appealing at the time. Decorating trends to be something we have to be in the right frame of mind for, so don’t push it just have a look at the list each day and something different will pop out.
Bring Some Green In
Whether you have a garden or not, bringing some of the outside in is a great way to lift the spirits. A few house plants can really change the feel of a room and refresh the area. Again, you can get a great selection online, and some local nurseries are delivering. You can also ask if anyone has any unloved house plants they are looking to rehome. Pick up some bright and cheerful pots that match the decor of your room and you’re set to go. Check your local florist or garden centre.
